The Amsterdam
We offer a full day Drama, Dance and Music workshop in primary schools in Hastings exploring the story of The Amsterdam – the ship which was shipwrecked off the Hastings coast in 1749.
Introducing students to shipwrecks and storms, smugglers and pirates, spirits and ghosts – this exciting project engages students in the history, myths and stories of our town.
Run by professional practitioners and experienced educators, the project allows primary students to engage in storytelling, theatre, dance and original song and music-making to create an imaginative, vibrant musical performance. In doing so they will develop an understanding of local culture and history.
The workshop is aimed primarily at Year 4, 5 or Year 6 students. We aim to engage the whole year group in imaginative activities which support literacy and oracy, as well as developing social and emotional capabilities.
